DC Kupwara reviews arrangements for Shelter Homes

KUPWARA : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan today convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the arrangements for recently designated temporary Passenger Shelters to facilitate the stranded passengers of border areas in winter season.

She took a detailed review of the facilities to be made available for the passengers who get stranded due to closure of passes connecting border areas of Karnah, Keran and Machill during extreme weather conditions.

The DC directed the Executive Engineers of R&B Division Lolab and Kralpora to deploy 3 employees including one cook for each Temporary Shelter Home to facilitate the passengers.

Tehsildars of Kupwara and Kralpora being Nodal Officers of these shelters have been directed to supervise and facilitate the temporary accommodation of stranded passengers in the designated shelter homes falling in their respective jurisdictions.

Chief Education Officer Kupwara has been asked to keep one night Chowkidar for each accommodation at the disposal of concerned Nodal Officers.

The DC also took review of various other amenities to be made available at these shelters which include food, utensils, furnishing and maintenance.

It is important to mention that GHSS Panzgam, GHS Meelyal and GHSS Kalaroose were recently designated as temporary shelter homes by the DC for the stranded passengers who have to travel to the border areas of Machil, Karnah and Keran in severe weather conditions.

ADC Kupwara, Ghulam Nabi Bhat; Tehsildars of Kupwara/Keran; Executive Engineers (R&B) of Sogam/Kralpora and other concerned attended the meeting.
