DC Kupwara reviews arrangements for upcoming festival of Eid-ul-Adha

KUPWARA : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan today convened a meeting of concerned officers to review the arrangements for celebration of the upcoming festival of Eid-ul-Azha across the district.
Speaking at the occasion, the DC impressed upon the officers to work with added zeal and enthusiasm, and ensure availability of all essential amenities to the people so that they can celebrate the holy festival of Eid-ul-Adha with traditional fervor.
The DC stressed upon all the officers to make their field staff more active and responsive on ground so as to cater to the grievances and needs of the people.
She directed the Executive Engineers of Jal Shakti and KPDCL to ensure availability of uninterrupted water and power supply to the people during the festival period so that they do not face any inconvenience. She asked the Ex. Engineer PHE for establishment of a Control Room for addressing the grievances of the people.
Regarding availability of sacrificial animals, the DC directed the District Sheep Husbandry Officer to designate and publicize the spots for sale of sacrificial animals.
Regarding sanitation, the Municipal Committees were directed to ensure cleanliness and proper sanitation in and around Eidgahs and market places in towns.
Regarding market checking, the DC directed the concerned officers of civil and police to intensify the market inspections in major towns of the district to put strict vigil on profiteering, hoarding and other unfair trade activities.
Ayushi also reviewed availability of food supply/essential commodities, security and other relevant arrangements.
Meanwhile, several members from Auqaf Committees put forth their demands and grievances before the chair which were heard patiently. The DC assured them that their genuine issues will be resolved well in time. She said that the District Administration will resume the process of conducting public darbars across different areas of the district to redress the issues of the people at their doorsteps.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kupwara, M Rouf Rehman; ADC Handwara, Aziz Ahmad Rather; SDM Lolab, DSHO, CAHO, Executive Engineers of Jal Shakti/KPDCL, Tehsildars, AMO, Executive Officers of Municipal Committees, Traffic Police personnel, besides, members of different Auqaf Committees and Traders Associations were also present in the meeting.
