DC Sgr reviews extension of benefits under beneficiary oriented Welfare schemes.

Srinagar, Nov 20 : In order to review the progress and implementation of various Government sponsored beneficiary schemes and extension of benefits under various welfare schemes, the District Development Commissioner(DDC), Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Saturday chaired a meeting of Officers of all line Departments at Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex, here.

The meeting held threadbare deliberation on implementation of various Government sponsored Welfare schemes including providing Scholarships, issuance of cards to Senior Citizens, Disabled and Transgenders, Survey regarding identification of anaemia amongst children/lactating mothers/adolescent girls, malnutrition among Anganwadi beneficiaries and progress of survey for identification of eligible beneficiaries under ISSS/NSAP/NFBS, besides disbursement of pension through different Social Welfare schemes also came into discussion.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC called upon the concerned officials to put dedicated efforts in ensuring 100 percent saturation of Social Security and Beneficiary-Oriented schemes in the district and called for laying a special focus on cent percent coverage under all Social Welfare schemes.

The DDC said, this is a collective responsibility of all of us to make sure that no eligible beneficiary is left behind. He stressed the Officers to take comprehensive measures to reach out to all eligible beneficiaries, besides making the Welfare schemes easily accessible to the people so that maximum beneficiaries of the district can reap the benefits.

While reviewing the progress under Pre-matric, Post Matric and Merit-cum Means scholarships being provided to beneficiaries, the DDC directed the concerned Officers to expedite all scholarship applications by December 10, 2021 so that all more than 21000 students are benefited from the different scholarship schemes well in time.

The DDC emphasised on holding awareness regarding identification of anaemia amongst children/lactating mothers/adolescent girls, malnutrition among Anganwadi beneficiaries. He set a timeline of 10 days for completing the survey to identify left out disable persons in the district. He directed Programme Officer, CDPO/ICDS to monitor the survey and mobilize the concerned staff for the same.

The CMO, Srinagar was asked to speed up the process of issuance of cards to Senior Citizens, Disabled and Transgenders for 100 percent saturation.

The District Social Welfare Officer, Srinagar apprised the DDC that pension to the tune of Rs 65 crore is being provided to 54000 eligible beneficiaries of the District under different Social Welfare schemes during current fiscal.

Similarly, Assistant Labour Commissioner, Srinagar informed the meeting, that under various welfare schemes of Building & Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board(BOCWB), an amount of Rs 4.58 crore have been disbursed among 5339 beneficiaries in the district during this fiscal under welfare schemes like Marriage Assistance, Educational Assistance, Death & Funeral Assistance, Disability and Chronic diseases etc. besides Rs 4.23 crore have also been distributed among 21913 persons as Covid-19 assistance

It was also given out in the meeting that pension in favour of 9000 identified eligible disabled persons is also being disbursed in the district while fresh survey is going on to cover the left out disabled population. It was also informed that as many as 24 transgenders have also been identified in Srinagar district and necessary pension is being given to them as per laid guidelines.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Dr. Syed Hanief Balkhi, Joint Director Planning, District Programme Officer, ICDS, Srinagar, Assistant commissioner, Development, Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, Assistant Commissioner Labour, Block Development Officer and other concerned were present in the meeting—(KNO)
