DC Shopian reviews preparations for snow clearance in view of inclement weather predictions

SHOPIAN : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Faz Lul Haseeb today chaired a meeting of officers of different departments at Mini-Secretariat, here to take stock of arrangements put in place for snow clearance mechanism in the district.

During the meeting, the DC reviewed availability of snow clearance machines, stock position of essentials, action plans prepared by the concerned departments to prevent interruption in services during snowfall.

He directed officers of R&B, PMGSY and Mechanical Engineering to ensure that main roads and inner links are cleared of snow immediately to facilitate the people of the district, and exhorted upon the concerned that no road should remain closed due to snow accumulation.

Haseeb asked the concerned officers to prepare a comprehensive and meticulous snow clearance plan to avoid any inconvenience to the people by extending a prompt response. He also called for better coordination in dealing with snow clearance operations by setting up control room and emphasized for ensuring smooth power, water supply and other essential supplies.

The DC directed the Power Development Department to stick to the electricity schedule and ensure no unscheduled power cuts are made.

He also directed CMO and R&B for activation of control rooms at District level and asked DIO to consolidate the details of all the control rooms for wider publicity.

Meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Shakoor Ahmed Dar; CMO, Superintendent DHS and other District and Sectoral Officers.
