DDC Kupwara reviews Power scenario in district

KUPWARA : The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan on Monday convened a meeting of concerned engineers and Officers to review the power scenario of the district.

On the occasion, the DDC stressed upon the officers to ensure close coordination for better results on ground. She directed engineers and Officers to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the consumers as per the curtailment schedule so that the people do not face inconvenience.

The DDC also directed them to ensure completion of all ongoing augmentation projects within the stipulated time frame so that more improvement is visible on the ground.

Meanwhile, it was informed in the meeting that the electric maintenance and operation of power system upto 33 KV level in the circle is being created by Sub Transmission Division Sopore and KPDCL Division Kupwara and Handwara are under the jurisdiction of Superintendent Engineer O&M KPDCL circle Sopore.

It was informed that total agreemented load of District Kupwara is 97.34 MW, Peak demand in the district is 250 MW and total Power available in the district is 125 MW and shortfall of available power during the winters in Kupwara district is 125 MW.

Chair was further apprised that adequate proactive measures have been taken for winter preparedness 2023-24.

Men and machinery has been kept ready, branch cuttings along the corridors of lines have been done and maintenance of receiving stations and substations has been done to keep the transformers and allied equipment.

It was also informed in the review meeting that workshops are made to repair the damaged transformers in a time bound manner, besides buffer stock of Transformers, electric poles, T-oil conductors and other emergent material has been kept in divisional stores to reduce the time of repair and replacement incase of transformers damage and fault.

SE KPDCL, Er. Habib Choudhary, SE Projects (Baramulla/Kupwara), Er. Mohammad Hussan Shah, CPO Kupwara, Abdul Majeed, Executive Engineers, AEEs, and other concerned attended the meeting.
