BUDGAM : The District Administration Budgam in collaboration with local news agency, KNS today organised a grand sports event under SVEEP programme at Sports Stadium Budgam.
District Election Officer (DEO) Budgam, Akshay Labroo; SSP Budgam, Nikhil Borkar chaired the KNS cricket championship final.
The event was witnessed by hundreds of local youths and students from different schools.
The event generated awareness on the importance of voting among the participants.
Speaking as a chief guest on the occasion, the DEO said that the aim of holding this cricket championship was to create awareness regarding the importance of the right to exercise franchise.
He urged youth to participate in democratic strengthening and cast their votes during the ensuing Srinagar and Baramulla Parliamentary Constituency Elections on May 13 and May 20 respectively.
He emphasized that youth participation in elections is important for government formation and asked them to vote to show their democratic presence and register their big wins.
The DEO expressed his gratitude to the KNS for organising the event providing youth a platform to play and showcase their talent. He congratulated the participants and both winner and runner up teams for the excellent performance in the tournament.
Later, the DEO and SSP also felicitated participants and distributed trophies and cash prizes among them.
DYSSO, DIO, Chief Editor KNS and other concerned were also present on the occasion.
