DGP sanctions Rs 2.98 cr for NoK of deceased police personnel

SRINAGAR: The Director General of Police (DGP) J&K, R R Swain, has sanctioned a special welfare relief of Rs 2.98 crore for the dependents and legal heirs of 15 deceased police personnel.

This includes Rs 22 lakh each for the families of 13 personnel, such as Sub-Inspector Ab Rashid Ganie, Assistant Sub-Inspectors Jai Paul Singh and Rahul Pandita, and Head Constables Ab Majid Lone, Subash Chandra, Surjeet Kumar, Divender Pal Singh, Jia Lal, and Mohammad Latif, as well as Selection Grade Constables Skinder Singh, Jai Pal Singh, and Rash Paul Singh, and Constable Sarafraz Ahmad.

Additionally, Rs 6 lakh each has been sanctioned for the families of two deceased Special Police Officers, Yesh Pal Singh and Mukesh Kumar.

Prior to this, Rs one lakh each was given to the families of the deceased police personnel and Rs 50,000 each to the families of deceased SPOs for performing last rites.

The Welfare Relief Funds are drawn from the Contributory Police Welfare Funds, designated for the support of police personnel and their families in need.

Furthermore, the DGP has approved financial assistance of Rs one lakh each for the marriage of the daughters of two martyrs and for the rehabilitation of a Follower whose house was damaged in a land-sinking incident.
