Srinagar: A one-day workshop focusing on the Management and Investigation of Outbreak/Epidemic-Prone Diseases was successfully conducted on 12th April 2025 at Banquet Hall Srinagar, bringing together healthcare professionals, epidemiologists, public health officials and field investigators across Kashmir Division.

Organized by State Surveillance Unit-IDSP Directorate of Health Services Kashmir, the workshop aimed to enhance the capacity of public health personnel in detecting, managing, and responding effectively to outbreaks of communicable diseases that pose serious public health threats.

The program featured expert sessions by Dr Himanshu Chauhan (HOD IDSP NCDC Delhi), Dr Prakash Doke Head, Central Research and Publication Unit, Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University Medical College, Pune and Dr Danish Zahoor Microbiologist GMC Srinagar on outbreak investigation protocols, early warning systems, risk communication, case management and lab testing of epidemic prone diseases.

The key note was presented by Director Health Services Kashmir who emphasized on the role of health care workers in effective outbreak response which begins with timely detection and coordinated action. This workshop plays a crucial role in building a resilient public health infrastructure,” said Dr. Jehangir Bakshi Director Health Services, Kashmir. Dr Harjeet Rai SNO NHM JK also briefed the gathering. The other dignitaries present included HoD Microbiology SKIMS soura, Assistant Director Health and Family welfare Jk, Epidemiologist Kashmir DHSK, SEPIO JK.

The workshop was part of a broader initiative to strengthen epidemic preparedness and aligns with national and global efforts to mitigate the impact of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases said Dr Samina Gul DNO/SSO Kashmir.The workshop ended with the vote of thanks by Dr Yasmeen Kango DD Schemes .
