DC chairs Block Diwas at Meelyal-Kralpora; asks youth to take benefit under PMEGP

KUPWARA  : The District Administration Kupwara today organized weekly block diwas events in various block headquarters of the district to listen to the developmental issues of the people at their doorsteps.

The main function was held at Meelyal in block Kralpora and was chaired by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Doifode Sagar Dattatray.

SSP Kupwara, Yougal Manhas; DDC Member Kralpora, Adv Masarat; ACD, CMO, CAO, AD Food, AD Fisheries, DSWO, FM-DIC, Tehsildar, Representatives from line departments, besides, PRIs and people in large number attended the block diwas function.

Addressing the function, the DDC said that the objective of the Government in conducting the weekly Block diwas programme is to make the administration available at the doorsteps of the people. He said the Government has taken up various initiatives to redress the day to day grievances of the people including Block diwas, Back to Village and My Town My Pride.

The DDC said that since the establishment of the Panchayati Raj system including the District Development Council, Block Development Council and Panchayats, development has become faster. He appreciated the Meelyal Panchayat for showing good results by completing 500 works in the area, adding that this is a success story itself. He said Panchayats are being motivated to do good work in villages and far flung areas.

The DDC said that the youth is the top most priority of the LG Government adding that various initiatives and schemes like PMEGP have been launched by the UT Government to generate livelihood for the youth. He appealed to the unemployed youth to come forward and take benefit under the PMEGP scheme.

Earlier, PRIs and local residents of the Meelyal area spoke and raised the developmental issues of the area.

The DDC heard their issues patiently and directed the concerned officers to ensure that all genuine issues are timely resolved.

He took a detailed review of the issues and received feedback from the concerned officers about the progress of their departments and resolved various issues of the people regarding electricity, water, road etc.

The DDC directed the BDO concerned to submit a proposal for development of playgrounds in the required Panchayats of the block. He also directed Tehsildar for identification of feasible land area for development of the playgrounds.

Later, the DDC distributed sports kits, Sanction letters of PMEGP and Land passbooks among the beneficiaries.

The DDC also laid foundation stone of the Amphitheater in the compound of High School Meelyal which is being constructed under MGNREGA at a cost of Rs.3.43 lakh.

Block Diwas was also held at Kadhama in block Teetwal which was chaired by SDM Karnah, Dr.Gulzar Ahmad Rather.

SDM Lolab, Aijaz Ahmad Bhat chaired block diwas event at Warnow in Lolab Sub Division.

Officers/representatives from line departments, besides, PRIs and people attended the block diwas events.
