District Administration Kupwara ensures swift restoration efforts despite heavy snowfall

DC visits several areas to monitor the situation

KUPWARA : In frontier Kupwara district, hectic efforts were on, to clear the snow from the main roads and restore the essential services despite heavy snowfall which is continuing from yesterday evening.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan visited various areas to monitor snow clearance operations and restoration measures across the district.

The administration has remained steadfast in its commitment to restoring essential services and ensuring the welfare of residents in this border district. All the resources have been mobilized to prioritize the restoration of road connectivity, power supply, water supply and the distribution of essential commodities to affected areas.

Teams have been deployed round the clock to clear snow from roads and ensure safe passage for commuters. Additionally, efforts are underway to address disruptions in power and water supply.

Despite the challenging weather conditions, the District Administration remains resolute in its efforts to mitigate the impact of the snowfall on the residents of Kupwara. Continuous coordination with relevant departments and stakeholders is being maintained to ensure swift response.

20 Control rooms have been set up across the district and helpline numbers have been published in print and electronic media including social media platforms for the convenience of the people.

The District Administration urges residents to remain cautious, cooperate with the authorities during this time. The residents of higher reaches have been sensitized to restrict outdoor activities due to the looming threat of avalanche.
