KUPWARA : District Administration Kupwara has launched a mass awareness campaign regarding Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) and the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY). These schemes were launched by the Prime Minister in the year 2015 with the objective of providing life and accident insurance cover of Rs.2 lakh to the beneficiary. The schemes are particularly targeted at the poor and underprivileged sections of the society with an aim to offer financial security in case of death or disability.
To ensure grassroot level coverage of the beneficiaries under PMJJBY and PMSBY, the District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Ms. Ayushi Sudan has issued a Circular regarding conduct of Block wise awareness cum enrollment campaign to cover the targeted beneficiaries. Nodal Officer for every block has also been designated to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the awareness camps.
Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) Kupwara, Mohammad Muzzafar Sheikh who is also the Nodal Officer for conduct of the Campaign in Kupwara Block, today organized an awareness cum enrollment camp at Town Hall Kupwara. The camp witnessed the participation of large number of stakeholders including Bankers, Anganwari Workers, VLWs, GRs and officials from line departments and general public.
Addressing the camp, Mohammad Muzzafar Sheikh said that Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojna and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana are two social security schemes launched by the Government of India to provide affordable insurance coverage to people, especially from lower-income groups. He highlighted the benefits of these schemes for the beneficiaries especially belonging to poor sections of the society. The ACD appealed the participants to come forward in large numbers and enroll themselves for availing the benefit under the schemes. He also enjoined upon them to spread further awareness among the people and encourage them for registering under these social security schemes.
Meanwhile, experts from Lead Bank Kupwara and other departments provided detailed awareness to the participants regarding the modus operandi of the schemes and the procedure for getting enrolled.
