Kupwara : In an earnest effort to provide a suitable and convenient platform to the educated unemployed youth/Job seekers and facilitate their interaction with Private Companies, District Employment & Counselling Centre (DE&CC) Kupwara today organised a one-day Job Fair at Town Hall Kupwara today.
The Job fair was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Ms Ayushi Sudan (IAS) in the presence of Assistant Director Employment, DE&CC Kupwara Ms Shabnam Arif Mir.
06 Private Sector Companies from the Service, Insurance, Banking and Marketing Sectors participated in the event with around 160 vacancies. The participating companies include Triba Textile and Industries Pvt. Ltd., Kangaroo Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., Wyath Service Pvt. Ltd., SBI Life, LIC and Vodafone-Idea. On the occasion stalls were also installed/erected by Govt. Line departments including District Industries Centre, Fisheries, KVIB, Handloom & Handicrafts Department, JKEDI, and Agriculture Department. The concerned Resource persons from line departments also disseminated the information about their respective schemes and programmes with the unemployed participating youth. The event saw an overwhelming response from Job seekers and private-sector companies. District Development Commissioner Kupwara visited the stalls and interacted with the participating resource persons of government line departments and representatives of private sector companies.
While addressing the unemployed youth, District Development Commissioner Kupwara, who was the Chief Guest of the event emphasized upon them to come out of the traditional mindset and participate in such kinds of events where the government department acts as a bridge for facilitating platform like this for the unemployed youth to reduce the unemployment rate in the district. She advised the participants to upgrade their skills as per the Job market demand/trends and enhance their chances of employment in the private sector and also sought advice from the resource person of the livelihood generation and implementing department of the government to set up a gainful source of employment for themselves.
The CEOs/Managing Directors and representatives of the participating private sector establishments also spoke on the occasion and acquainted the participants regarding the job opportunities available with the participating companies.
05 unemployed youth were provided on-spot offer letters and 69 unemployed youth were shortlisted by the participating private sector companies. The Programme was moderated by Ishfaq Ahmad Wani, Employment Officer, DE&CC Kupwara and assisted by Nadiya Nazir, Career Counselling Officer, DE&CC Kupwara. Mr Altaf Ahmad Salroo, Young Professional, DECC/MCC Kupwara demonstrated and aware the participating youth about the benefits of registration with the UT level Employment Portal and NCS portal. Job seekers expressed their deep gratitude to the organisers of the event for providing them with a suitable platform to interact with the Job providers.
