District Level NCORD Committee meet held at Kulgam

DC stresses for prompt action on phase wise declaration of Nasha Mukt Panchayats

KULGAM : A meeting of the District Level Committee under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) was today held at mini-secretariat, here under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr.Bilal-Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat.

The meeting was convened to discuss an Action Plan against the drug abuse and narcotic trade in the district and review the implementation of decisions and directions passed in previous meetings, and chalk out a future course of action.

During the meeting, threadbare discussion was held on various issues related to the incidence of drug addiction, certification of Nasha Mukt Panchayats as per norms, drives against the bhang cultivation, hotspots of drug use and action taken by the concerned departments with regard to curbing the menace of drugs.

The DC sought details from the concerned departments about the measures being taken to control the Drug addiction and rehabilitation of addicts in designated treatment and rehabilitation centres.

He stressed upon all concerned departments to work on certifying the Nasha Mukt Panchayats in a phase wise manner by eradicating all incidences of drug abuse in the selected villages.

Directions were given for constituting multi departmental teams for undertaking bhang destruction drives across the district, more particularly in areas of the concern.

The meeting was attended by SSP Kulgam, Sahil Sarangal; ADC, Vikar Ahmad Giri;  SDM Noorabad, ACR, CEO, DIO, CAO, DSWO, Tehsildar Hq. and  other officers from Excise, Colleges, Health, Drug Control, Flood protection, Forests among others.
