District level workshop on Good Governance Practices held at Shopian

SHOPIAN : A District Level Workshop on Good Governance Week, aiming to share good governance practices and initiatives, and present Vision Document for Shopian ‘Shopian@100’ was today held at Mini Secretariat, Shopian.
The workshop, chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar, focused on the current status of departments, key initiatives taken in the department in the last five years and vision for the next 25 years for the district through brainstorming sessions.
Departments including Agriculture allied, Industries, Higher & School Education, Rural Development, Health, Revenue, Social Welfare, Irrigation, Jal Shakti, Tourism & Wildlife, etc presented their respective vision documents which were elaborately discussed for further actions.
The DC emphasized on aligning the existing government interventions and schemes with the Vision Documents and proposing the solutions to the deficits being encountered in the field.
Lack of financial, land and other resources were discussed and steps required to be taken for holistic and sustainable development in the district assessed.
Stress was laid on leveraging the existing government schemes with good governance practices in order to take the development to sustainable levels. Huge potential of the district in sectors like agri allied sectors, Horticulture, Animal & Sheep Husbandry, agro based industries, etc was attended.
A comprehensive synergy of horticulture and industries was deliberated by the DC, who called for developing the industrial set up in alignment with the local potential.
The workshop was attended by ADDC, Dr Nasir Ahmad Lone; ADC, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz; ACR and various other district/ sector officers.
