District Skill Committee meeting held at Anantnag

ANANTNAG : District Skill Committee meeting was today held under the chairmanship of Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Anantnag, Bashir Ahmad Wani at DC Office, here.

The meeting was briefed about the progress of Skill Training under B2V4, MTMP and PMKVY.

The committee reviewed the progress of skill training programs implemented under various initiatives, including Mission Youth’s Training and Placement Program (MTMP), and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY). They discussed the achievements, challenges, and future plans for these programs.

The committee discussed the utilization of funds under the SANKALP (Skills Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion) scheme. It also reviewed the projects and activities supported by the fund and assessed their impact. Strategies to optimize the utilization of the fund were also considered.

The committee also discussed a proposal for Entrepreneurship Development Program (EDP) training through the Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI). It examined the potential benefits and feasibility of the proposal and discussed its alignment with the broader skill development goals.

The committee shared their findings on the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative, which aims to promote local traditional crafts and industries. It also discussed the skill requirements, market potential, and strategies for enhancing the competitiveness of ODOP products. This sharing of findings would likely inform future interventions and skill development efforts.

Further, the committee discussed the provision of skill training programs specifically targeting candidates from Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) through the National Career Service (NCS). It explored ways to ensure equitable access to training opportunities and promote inclusivity in skill development initiatives.

ADDC while addressing the committee members said that the line departments must come with an action plan for option and identification and directed ITI Principal to devise a result oriented action plan. He further directed for close coordination among the line departments for training and enrollments with trainee centric trades.

Wani emphasized on the officers for introduction of employment generating courses as the motive of the Skill training courses is to reduce unemployment and to secure the future of Youth. He said that after completion of academics the students must be skilled.

The meeting was attended by JD Planning, Principles of Boys & Women GDC’s, Principal ITI, CEO, DSWO, NRLM, EDI, KVIB and other committee members.
