PULWAMA : Continuing its mission to combat the menace of drug abuse, district administration Pulwama today organised a series of Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) camps at various panchayats across all the blocks of the district.
During the sessions, resource persons sensitised participants, especially the youth, about the harmful physical, psychological, and social impacts of substance abuse.
The sessions focused on key areas such as early detection of drug addiction, importance of community vigilance, and the supportive role of families in rehabilitation. Special emphasis was placed on educating participants about the availability of local counselling and de-addiction services.
To enhance outreach, a wide range of IEC materials, including brochures, posters, and pamphlets with key messages on prevention, support systems, and helpline numbers, were also distributed among the participants. Participants were also encouraged to become ambassadors of change within their communities.
The programmes witnessed active participation from officials of Health, Education, Social Welfare, Rural Development, and Police. Representatives from Panchayats, Self Help Groups (SHGs), civil society, students, and local youth also took part in the events with enthusiasm.
The campaign will continue in the coming days with similar initiatives planned across educational institutions, panchayats, and urban areas of the district, aiming to strengthen awareness and ensure community-level engagement in the fight against drug addiction.
