Distt administration kupwara Hosts Awareness Program on Child Labour Laws for Vulnerable Children

Kupwara : An awareness program focusing on the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Rules 1988, as amended in 2027, was conducted at the Pareesha Gulgam residential hostel in Kupwara. The event, aimed at raising awareness about child labour laws and their recent amendments, was attended by prominent district officials and key stakeholders.

Among the attendees were ADC Kupwara Mohd Rouf Rehman(KAS), Chief Education Officer Kupwara Ab Majeed Dar, ALC Kupwara Arshid Qadir, members of the judiciary, District Coordinator Cultural Education Rayees Masroor, and CEC Gh Mohammed, along with officials from the Social Welfare and Labour departments.

The program’s primary focus was on educating the 48 enrolled girls at the residential hostel, operated by the Social Welfare Department, about their rights under the updated child labour laws. The initiative emphasizes the importance of protecting vulnerable children, especially those in residential care, from exploitation.

During the event, the visiting officials interacted with the children, discussing child labour issues and the facilities provided to them by the Pareesha hostel. This initiative is seen as a crucial step towards ensuring the safety, empowerment, and legal protection of children in Kupwara and across the region.
