Div Com reviews repair, maintenance of Jammu city roads

Directs for speeding up renovation works for timely completion

Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Ramesh Kumar on Friday reviewed the repair and maintenance of Jammu city roads here at a meeting with concerned officers.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner JMC, Rahul Yadav; VC JDA, Pankaj Magotra; SSP Traffic, Koushal Sharma; Deputy Director Planning, Munish Dutta; besides Superintending Engineers of PWD, UEED and other concerned officers, while DC Jammu participated in the meeting through video conferencing.
The Div Com took serious note of slow renovation work of important city roads and directed the concerned departments to expedite the pace to avoid inconvenience to the commuters.
While inquiring about the status of work on university road, the Div Com directed the UEED, Smart City and PWD to expedite the work on drains, tile laying and maintenance by executing work in double shifts .
The SE PWD informed that the tender has been floated and the blacktopping work of the road would be started soon.
The Div Com also directed PWD for repair of Gujjar Nagar Bridge and speed up ongoing work on Bikram Chowk bridges.
The UEED was also instructed to expedite the pace of work on all the sewerage, drainage projects being executed in the city and complete all the works in a time bound manner.
The Jammu Smart City Ltd was asked to speed up ongoing works of tiles, footpaths in Gandhi Nagar and other areas.
The Div Com asked DC Jammu to constitute a team of officers from PWD, JMC, Traffic for conducting survey of all the main roads and internal roads where the repair work is required. The committee will submit its report within 3 days.
The Div Com directed for proper maintenance of roads, bush cuttings, carrying out drain clearance operations and resolving parking issues in the city.(RK)
