DLSA Bandipora organizes Legal Awareness programme on ‘Rights of Transgender’

BANDIPORA : The District Legal Services Authority, (DLSA) Bandipora in coordination with Tehsil Legal Services Authority Sumbal and in collaboration with Education Department Bandipora today organized legal awareness programme on ‘Rights of Transgender’ at Govt Higher Secondary School Nowgam Sumbal.
The programme was held under the supervision of Chairman, DLSA Bandipora, Khalil Ahmad Choudhary and guidance of Secretary, DLSA Bandipora, Iqbal Ahmad Akhoon.
The program aimed to educate the Third Gender community about their fundamental rights, legal protections and access to justice.
Advocate Abid Hussain Malla and Advocate Irshad Ahmad Dar Resource Persons/ Panel Lawyers TLSC Sumbal, emphasized the importance of third gender, transgender rights and highlighted the legal provisions that protect them from discrimination and violence. They also discussed the role of legal aid and community support in empowering third gender, transgenders.
The participants were also informed about the various welfare schemes launched by the government for the benefit of third gender and transgenders. They were encouraged to take advantage of these schemes for their overall development.
The programme concluded with an interactive session, where the participants raised questions and shared their concerns.
The resource person and TLSC officials provided guidance and assistance to the participants on various legal and welfare issues
The programme was attended by Officers/officials, students of the said institution, PLVs and other participants.
