DLSA Ganderbal organizes Legal Awareness programmes on Flag Code of India

SRINAGAR: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal has organized a Legal Awareness programmes regarding the provisions of Flag Code of India, 2002 (as amended in 2021 & 2022) and the prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971-reg, at different locations.

The programmes were held under the supervision of Chairman DLSA Ganderbal, Ritesh Kumar Dubey and under the guidance of Secretary DLSA Ganderbal, Nusrat Ali Hakak.

The objective of the programmes was to impart knowledge regarding strict compliance with the provisions of the Flag Code of India 2002 as amended in 2021 and 2022 and the Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act 1971.

The first programme was held at Government Boys High School, Sherpathri Ganderbal which was spearheaded by Para Legal Volunteer, Fayaz Mohammad Bhat, who discussed the provisions of the aforementioned legislations and analyzed in detail the consequences of non-compliance.

He also addressed some common concerns and sensitized the students regarding the importance of preserving the integrity of the national flag and preventing its misuse.

As the national flag is a symbol of our country’s cultural and historical heritage, he said we all should take pride in living in this wonderful country and show our respect in every way possible.

The second programme was held at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Gund Ganderbal. Mudasir Ahmad Kasana, teacher incharge of Legal Literacy Club Gund was the resource person who highlighted the provisions of the Flag Code of India 2002 as amended in 2021 and 2022 and the Prevention of Insult to National Honour Act 1971 among the participants.

He further added that in light of the upcoming events and celebrations where national flags made of paper are used by the public, urged the participants to dispose-off these flags in a respectful manner consistent with the dignity of the flag.

It is imperative that they are not discarded or thrown on the ground after use. Instead, they should be disposed of in a private manner, in accordance with the respect and honor that our national flag deserves.

These programmes were attended by principal, teachers, and students from both the schools and PLVs from District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal.
