DLSA Kupwara Organizes 2nd National Lok Adalat of the Year – 2025

KUPWARA : The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Kupwara, under the Chairmanship of Mr. Manjeet Singh Manhas Chairman District Legal Services Authority (Principal District & Sessions Judge, Kupwara) and under the guidance of Mr. Moneer Ahmad (Secretary, DLSA/Sub-Judge Kupwara), successfully organized the 2nd National Lok Adalat across various court complexes of the district today.
The National Lok Adalat was inaugurated by Mr. Manjeet Singh Manhas, Chairman DLSA (Pr. District & Sessions Judge, Kupwara) in the presence of Mr. Moneer Ahmad (Secretary, DLSA/Sub-Judge Kupwara)and members of the Bar Associations, at the District Court Complex Kupwara. The inauguration marked the formal commencement of proceedings at various benches throughout the district.Total no. of NINE 09 Benches Number of Benches were Constituted, Functioning at court complexes in Kupwara, Handwara, Tangdhar, Sogam, Trehgam.
Bench First was constituted at Court Complex, Kupwara comprising of Ms. Manjeet Singh Manhas, Chairperson DLSA, Distt. & Session Judge Kupwara and Mr. Ahrar Ahmad Dar, Bar President.
Second Bench was constituted at Court Complex, Handwara comprising of Mr. Mansoor Ahmad Lone, Additional District and Sessions Judge, Handwara and Mr. Khursheed Ahmad Bar President Handwara.
Bench third was constituted at Court Complex Handwara, comprising of Manzoor Hussain Chairman TLSC/ CJM Handwara and Mr. Ab Rashid Malik (Advocate).
Fourth Bench Was constituted at District Court Kupwara comprising of Mr. Moneer Ahmad Secretary DLSA, Sub-Judge Kupwara and Mr. Fayaz Ahmad (Advocate).
Fifth Bench was constituted at Special Mobile Magistrate Court Trehgam Comprising of Mr. Zahoor Ahmad Ganie and Mr. Reyaz Ahmad Wani (Bar President).
Sixth at Munsiff Court Sogam comprising of Mr. Shabir Ahmad Malik Munsiff/ JMIC Sogam, and Mr. Bashir Ahmad Bhat (Bar President Sogam).
Seventh Bench at Munsiff Court Kupwara comprising of Mr. Iram Irtiza and Ms. Sufiya Mohiuddin (advocate) acted as Bench Member.
Eighth Bench at Munsiff/ JMIC Handwara comprising of Mr. Altaf Ahmad Mir and Mr. Mudasir Ahsan Rather acted as member
Ninth Bench at Munsiff Court Tangdhar comprising of Mr. Mansoor Ahmad Mir Munsiff/JMIC (Chairman TLSC) Tangdhar and Mr. Ab Majid Banday acted as Member.

The 2nd National Lok Adalat was held as per the action plan of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and the directions of the J&K Legal Services Authority, with the primary objective of providing affordable, accessible, and amicable dispute resolution to the public.

Key Highlights:
Total Cases Taken Up: [672]
Including civil, criminal compoundable, matrimonial, MACT, and NI Act matters, Pre-Litigation Matters, Bank Recovery Cases, Electricity Bills, PUS Matters etc.
Cases Disposed Of: [ 401]
Through mutual consent, compromise, and pre-litigation resolution.
Total Settlement Amount: ₹[87,47,100]
Reflecting monetary settlements in recovery and compensation.

Participation and Impact:

The Lok Adalat saw active participation from:
• Judicial Officers
• Advocates and Bar Associations
• Bank and Insurance Company Representatives
• Government Departments.
• Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs)

Public litigants, lawyers, and parties expressed immense joy and satisfaction over the quick, amicable settlements. Many thanked the DLSA Kupwara for facilitating justice in a friendly and stress-free manner, without formal litigation.
