Kupwara : Continuing its drive against drug menace, Police Station Kupwara today established a routine Naka (checkpoint) at main road Tikker near Radio Station Kupwara. During checking, the Naka party apprehended an individual who was found in possession of narcotics.
The accused has been identified as Shahzad Ahmad Shiekh S/o Bashir Ahmad Shiekh R/o Kupwara
Upon his search, a substantial amount of charas like substance was recovered from his possession. Preliminary enquiry revealed that the accused was engaged in illicit drug trafficking for petty monetary gains.
In this regard, a case has been registered under FIR No. 147/2025 under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Kupwara. Investigation into the matter has been taken up to trace the source and wider network, if any, involved in the illegal trade.
