Drug Peddler arrested in Budgam; Contraband substance recovered.

Budgam :  Continuing its efforts to curb the menace of drugs from the society, during night hours, while naka checking Budgam Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.

During naka checking near block office Khag, police party of Police station Khag intercepted one person in suspicious condition who was on way from Malpora to Khag, upon seeing police party he tried to flee from the spot but was chased and apprehended tactfully. During questioning the said arrested person was identified as Zahoor Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Raheem Bhat resident of Takibal Breewah During his personal search 24 Grams of charas like substance was recovered from his possession.

Case FIR Number 58/2022 under relevent sections of NDPS act was registered at Police Station Khag and investigation was taken up.

During the course of investigation, the accused admitted and narrated that he had purchased the said contraband substance from one Ghulam Mohammad Naik @bringi son of Late Abdul Gani Naik resident of Sutharan Khag and his son namely Parveez Ahmad Naik and more contraband/ Charas like substance is lying with them for sale. Accordingly, police party along with Executive Magistrate Ist class Khag raided the house of Ghulam Mohammad Naik @bringi and recovered 15 KGs of cannabis leaves but the father son duo managed to escape from the spot,efforts are going on to arrest the duo and shall be arrested soon. Further investigation into the matter is going on, more arrests and recoveries are expected.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddler should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
