With the dip in temperature, the demand for traditionally manufactured Kangri has increased in the kashmir valley. Despite having a number of modern heating appliances available in the market and being used frequently, the traditional Kangri continues to keep Kashmiris warm during the winter months as the temperature falls.

In a typical koshur (Kashmiri) household, the Kangir continues to be the main, inexpensive source of keeping an individual warm. And also as Kashmir faces the teriff of electricity especially during winters kangri comes to their rescue. however history is witnessed to the invention of KANGRI- traditional way to keep warm and this helps people to survive during sub zero temperatures.
Kangri is the traditional earthen fire pot encased by an intricate web of interwoven twig artistry. For generations, people here have carried this portable heat-emitting device under the elaborate pheran which is a traditional cloak reaching down to knees woven by people of Kashmir during frosty winters.
