In a heartening development two young and enthusiastic Indian Administrative Services’ officers, currently dispensing their duties under different capacities in J&K, have been selected for the coveted Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration-2022 – India’s highest award in Civil Services. The two awardees include the incumbent Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Dr. Syed Sehrish Asgar and former Deputy Commissioner Srinagar and current CEO Mission Youth J&K and Secretary to Government Dr Shahid Iqbal Chaudhary. Both the awardees have been thoroughly professional in their conduct and have been always on the forefront to make things easy for the people, as per the mandate vested in them. While Dr. Sehrish has been over the time turning the tide for district Baramulla with her sheer administrative acumen, Dr. Chaudhary at the same time has seen it all while dispensing his duties as Deputy Commissioner Srinagar before being appointed as CEO Mission Youth J&K and Secretary to Government. It nonetheless always feels good when your efforts and services are acknowledged by an office superior to yours, no matter what your mandate is, for the fact that this recognition instills in you a confidence and courage to do more. We of late have seen many youth from J&K getting selected for JKAS or IAS. Conceding that clearing these exams is in no means a small feat, but the aspirants or the selectees should understand that what actually makes the difference in the long run is how one delivers on the ground. This felicitation, which as said is country’s highest award in Civil Services, should inspire the aspirants and the selectees alike to strive more and let the people know your worth – Do your bit, the people will realize and recognize it, sooner or later!
