After undergoing dormancy for many months, the Covid-19 is slowly and stealthily resurfacing in many parts of the world with the country and J&K remaining no exception. As the tally of infected persons is growing, so are the concerns of authorities – afterall who can forget the dread of this deadly virus, which threw life out of gear in almost every nuke and cranny of the world, if not for three, but surely for two years altogether. The highly infectious virus has so far become the reason for nearly seven million deaths in the world, with India alone sharing a staggering figure of over five lac deaths and J&K at the same time having witnessed almost five thousand such deaths. The Government of India sensing the emergency has over the time upped its preparations and asked the States and Union Territories to remain on alert to thwart repetition of any exigency as witnessed before. The mock drills are being conducted all across even as the authorities intensify testing to brace for any possible bout of the virus. Amid all this, the people need to respond to the situation equally and share their responsibilities by giving due regard to the time to time advisories either directly passed on by the government or by the experts. If a person has or feels any symptoms which may somehow hint at him/her for possibly being infected with the disease, he/she should take necessary precautions as a responsible citizen. The authorities will surely play its role, but we too need to play our’s to prevent ourselves and our beloved ones from this virus – which if not tackled well has the potential to god forbid rob us of precious lives as it did before.
