The religion Islam as we know has made several things mandatory for a Muslim to qualify to be a believer in the very essence of the word. Among those mandatory things, Ibadah (Worship) of Allah with a total belief in him being the sole power occupies the basic and fundamental spot. There as such are several other things which have to be duly considered by a believer to please and attain nearness to Almighty Allah. With many of those related to one’s self and individuality, there nonetheless are some other things which not only have an effect on one’s individuality but on the other people as well and among those is the ‘Husn-e-Akhlaq’. Almighty Allah says in Surah Luqman; We endowed Luqman with wisdom: ‘Be thankful to God: whoever gives thanks benefits his own soul, and as for those who are thankless––God is self-sufficient, worthy of all praise.’ Luqman counseled his son, ‘My son, do not attribute any partners to God: attributing partners to Him is a terrible wrong.’ We have commanded people to be good to their parents … If they strive to make you associate with Me anything about which you have no knowledge, then do not obey them. Yet keep their company in this life according to what is right, and follow the path of those who turn to Me… (31:12-15). Allah the Almighty says in Surah Al-Qasas Be Kind, as Allah has been kind to you (28:77). The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: “The most perfect man in his faith among the believers is the one whose behaviour is the most excellent; and the best of you are those who are the best to their wives.” There are many other instances in the Holy Quran as well as narrations of Hadith (sayings of Prophet Muhammad SAW), which lay much emphasis on the believers to be good towards their fellows irrespective of any difference(s). However unfortunately the people are not taking much heed either from the Holy Book or from the sayings of Prophet Muhammad SAW) and we thus see people showing much discourtesy towards other people in domestic and social life alike. We as humans owe each other much that we can’t deride anyone for we all are the creation of Almighty Allah and if we go contrary to the teachings of Holy Quran or Hadith we are bound to draw the wrath of the Creator for one or the other way we are deriding his creation only.
