Kashmir is witnessing a surge in tourism this year, with many visitors from abroad. This season, all hotels, houseboats, and homestays are fully booked. Until the middle of May, almost a million tourists have visited Kashmir. A sizable number of travelers visit offbeat locations like Keran, Machil, Bangus, Daksun, Doodhpathri, and others, in addition to the popular tourist spots.
Because of the unusually high temperatures this season in Gujarat, Maharashtra, West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu, the valley is currently witnessing large influx of tourists. Residents associated with tourism sector anticipate that the flow will continue for rest of the months. The influx of tourists in Kashmir is overwhelming even for the houseboat owners.
