Editorial | Happy Independence Day!

This day marks the 77th Independence Day of this proud nation India. India as a nation after several centuries of foreign rule finally saw itself free on this day on August 15, 1947 and since then there is looking back as we can see it having progressed leaps and bounds in almost all sectors. The nation has established its authority on the world level as a major force to reckon with. The pursuits which otherwise only a few decades back seemed invincible are now well within reach and those at the helm of the affairs have already set their eyes to achieve many others. The India as a nation has been established on rich ethos and principles albeit housing a diverse range of people be it in terms of race, religion, caste, creed or color – There is hardly any country in the contemporary world which has this much diversity as this nation. Given this fact, it is high time that we yet again reflect upon the rich ethos and democratic principles this nation was established upon. We all in our personal capacity should understand things in a broader perspective as to put our share in making this nation more robust and lively for everyone around. We must remember the sacrifices of the heroes who endured every hardship to see us as a free nation. That being said, merely celebrating the day with great fervour will not serve the purpose, mission and vision the nation has been built on. Each citizen needs to understand the true legacy of brotherhood, unity in diversity, sovereign democratic principles and religious harmony, and all such tenets which reflect true Nationalism. Regardless of which religion we follow, the region we come from, or the language we speak, we must leave no stone unturned to uphold the legacy of the nation. Must we not forget that united we stand and divided we fall. Happy Independence Day!
