An official told  that the shop, which was originally allotted to Secretary Handloom Fabrics Corporation Society, was purportedly sold or sublet to the current occupant after a transaction involving substantial sums of money, amounting to crores.

This development comes in the wake of an ongoing investigation, with an FIR filed against former members of the corporation, registered at Police Station ACB Srinagar under case number 09/2023.

The Estates Department’s intervention marks a significant step towards rectifying the situation and restoring the rightful ownership of the premises, the officer said adding that this action underscores the commitment to uphold the rule of law and combat instances of illegal occupancy and corruption within the system.
