Srinagar : Fatima Tu Zohra, a young chess player from Bandipora district, has secured the first position in the state-level chess championship held at Indoor Stadium, Srinagar. She received a gold medal in the Under-13 age category. The championship was organised by the All J&K Chess Association under the aegis of the All India Chess Federation.

The event brought together participants from different districts of Jammu and Kashmir. Fatima emerged at the top after a series of competitive rounds, demonstrating her skill and consistency throughout the tournament.

Fatima has previously participated in two national-level chess championships, representing Jammu and Kashmir. With this latest victory, she has now been selected for another upcoming national-level chess championship.

Her performance reflects her commitment to the sport and steady progress at the competitive level. Fatima continues to train and compete to improve gaining further experience in national circuits.

Local chess officials acknowledged her effort and expressed support for her future tournaments. The All J&K Chess Association has confirmed her selection and stated that arrangements will be made for her participation in the national event.

Fatima’s achievement is seen as a positive development for chess in the region, encouraging more young players to take part in the sport.
