ANANTNAG : A comprehensive mock drill on Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) was today successfully conducted at Bumzoo, Mattan.
The final drill saw active participation from various disaster response and support agencies including NDRF, SDRF, DDMA, NCC, Health Department, Civil Defence, CRPF, Fire & Emergency Services, and other key stakeholders.
A large number of local residents and students witnessed the exercise, gaining firsthand experience of rescue and relief operations during emergencies. The drill was executed effectively, showcasing the preparedness and coordination among the participating teams.
Senior officers of administration attended the exercise including Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Anantnag, Sandeep Singh Bali; Chief Executive Officer Emergency & Relief Organisation, Dr. Amir Hussain and Deputy Secretary Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (DMRRR), Snobar Jameel.
They emphasized the importance of inter-agency coordination to overcome any operational shortcomings during actual emergencies. They also stated that the response teams are well-prepared to tackle disaster situations.
Officers from the DMRRR reiterated that such drills will continue to be conducted in the future to enhance mass awareness.
