According to reports received by the Srinagar-based news agency, Special Police Officers Rayees Khan, Imtiyaz Malik, and Constables Saleem Mushtaq, and Zahoor Ahmad, who were stationed at Kupwara police station, were assaulted by 160 TA unit late at night. The injured officers were promptly shifted to a local hospital in Kupwara and later transferred to SKIMS Soura for further treatment.

The incident occurred when an army team led by an officer allegedly stormed the police station and assaulted the officers. While both police and army officials have not commented on the reasons behind the altercation, sources indicate that a police party had allegedly raided the residence of a local Territorial army man in Batpora, Kupwara during an investigation, which purportedly provoked the local army unit to retaliate.

The injured policemen who are under treatment at SKIMS Soura are reported to be in stable condition.

An official stated that an investigation is ongoing and assured that the law will take its due course. (KDC)
