Complaints are pouring in from different areas of Ganderbal district including Kangan, Prang, Kijpora, Gujarpati Prang, Arahama, Anderwana nd Bonizil that the Power Development Department (PDD) was resorting to the frequent power cuts.

Residents of these areas said that their respective areas continue to reel under darkness especially during wee hours.

“The PDD has been playing hide and seek for the past two weeks. The bone chilling cold has added to our problems,” they said.

The residents of these areas said their children, appearing in the ongoing examinations, were the worst sufferers.

“Our children are unable to study properly in absence of power,” said residents of Wusan.

“It’s unfortunate that the authorities resort to unscheduled power cuts in the morning and evening hours, which is the ideal time to study,” they said.

Many students complained that the power-cuts were badly affecting their studies.

“How can we study in the absence of electricity. Instead of resorting to power cuts, the PDD should ensure uninterrupted power supply these days keeping in view the examination session,” they said.
