GDC Qazigund commemorates ‘World Population Day’

ANANTNAG : To commemorate the “World Population Day”, the Department of Sociology and Urdu Government Degree College (GDC) Qazigund organized a symposium on the theme “Unleashing the power of gender equality: Uplifting the voices of women and girls to unlock our world’s infinite possibilities”, here.

Principal, Prof. G.R Verma presented introductory remarks about the theme thereby highlighting the challenges of population growth and possible alternatives to maintain balance.

Prof.  Mohd Maqbool Pala in his address highlighted the evolutionary aspect of population growth along with its positive impact.

Students from different semesters threw light on the theme by presenting the speeches.

A quiz programme on the theme was also held wherein students participated with enthusiasm.

In their speech, Mehru  Mushtaq, Syed Madiha and Adfar Jan of 5th semester secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively and in the Quiz, Group C comprising of students Mehru Mushtaq, Syed Madhia Andrabi  and Syed Fizaya were adjudged as the winners by the jury members.

Finally in the valedictory ceremony position holders and participants were felicitated with mementos and certificates by the Principal along with other faculty members.
