Lolab: As the entire nation marked World Day against ‘Drug Abuse’, the Govt Degree College Sogam Lolab also held various activities to generate awareness about the effects of drug abuse.
The event was attended by Principal Govt Degree College Sogam, DySp Sogam, 2nd SHO Sogam, Officer’s from rural development department, college lectures and enrolled students. All the attending officer’s, teaching staff and non- teaching staff and students took a pledge against drug abuse.
A slogan writing/ Play Card, Poster making competition was also organized in a bid to raise awareness about harmful effects of drug abuse and illegal trade of Drugs.
The speaker’s on the eve shed widespread light and shared dire consequences on the given topic and shared preventive measures to keep society drug free.
“This is our collective responsibility to keep our society free from these ailments. We need to educate the youth in particular and should engage them in different sports activities in a bid to keep them out of this drug menace”, a student of the college on the occasion said,
“Whenever anyone commits mistake by consuming any sort of drugs, he loses all his senses, and, this is the time where his dreams start to get shattered”, adding “It’s need of the hour to spread mass awareness about the drug abuse, another speaker at the moment added,
Principal Govt Degree College Sogam while addressing the gathering said that Drug abuse has posed a major challenge as many youth are destroying their lives by getting addicted to drugs. “It’s very important to sensitize our youth on the subject of drug abuse. They are ruining their lives and putting their future at stake. The abuse of drugs is making their lives vulnerable and prone to destruction.”
