Hamid Aziz (24), started his athletic journey with cross country running competition in the year 2010, and continued to excel till the date.
Resident of Hawal area in Srinagar City, this young athlete ran 200 KM in just two days from Kargil to Srinagar in 2018.
The 200 KM Ultra Marathon run was organised by Jammu & Kashmir tourism department on 21st October, 2018.
The athlete had ‘ran at an altitude of 11,578 feet above sea level’ at Zojila to reach Kashmir from Ladakh, which is considered as his great achievement.
While talking to Global Kashmir, Hamid said that he initially participated in SP School Annual Race in 2021 and secured 2nd place there, while he accordingly managed to participated in Srinagar Marathon organised by Shaheen Sports Syndicate in 2013, and bagged third position in that competition.
He said that he continued to work hard and participated in Olympic Day Run, and later Annual road races in Islamia College from 2013 to 2015, where he performed very well.
Apart from all that, Hamid participated in J&K Police State Marathon in 2014 and other many State Championships, and managed to secure top positions, which boosted his morale day by day.
He also participated in Indian Expedition Adventure Race, before creating history of running 200 KM from Kargil to Srinagar (Ultra Marathon Run-2018).
Following his achievement in 2018, Hamid was appreciated by the higher officials, while he continued to participate in Marathon competitions, and has been working hard to excel still more.
