Handwara police Arrest Two Drug Peddlers, Seize contraband

Handwara : In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Handwara Police arrested two individuals after recovering heroin-like substances from their possession during a routine vehicle check at Unisoo near B.Ed. College.

A police team led by IC PP Chogul intercepted a Swift Dzire vehicle (Registration No. JK09D-5264) traveling from Sopore to Kupwara. Upon searching the vehicle, officers recovered 3.30 grams of a heroin-like substance from the driver, identified as Faisal Ahmad, son of Ab. Jabar Lone, a resident of Bramri, Kupwara. Further search led to the recovery of 5 grams of a similar substance from the second occupant, Tahir Habib, son of Habibullah Dar, a resident of Jaggerpora, Kupwara. Accordingly both have been arrested and shifted to police station Handwara for further investigation.

A case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police station Handwara and investigation has been initiated in the instant matter.

Handwara Police urges the public to cooperate in the fight against drug abuse. Any suspicious activities related to drugs or other crimes can be reported to the nearest police station or by dialling 112. The police remains committed to initiate strict legal action against offenders and ensuring a drug-free society.
