Handwara : In an effort to promote a healthy and drug-free lifestyle, Handwara Police organized a volleyball tournament under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan at District Police Lines (DPL), Handwara. The initiative aims to raise awareness about the dangers of drug addiction while encouraging youth to engage in positive activities like sports.
The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from several local teams, including a police team. The event was attended by senior police officials, local dignitaries, and community members, all of whom praised the initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, ASP Handwara, Shri Zaffar Iqbal (JKPS), highlighted the significance of such programs in shaping a brighter future for the youth. “Sports not only build discipline and teamwork but also serve as a powerful tool in keeping young minds away from harmful influences,” he said.
At the conclusion of the tournament, winning teams were awarded trophies and certificates, while all participants took a pledge to support the fight against drug abuse.
This tournament is part of a broader effort under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, which focuses on awareness, prevention, and rehabilitation to create a drug-free society.
