International Red Cross Day celebrated at Budgam

The camp was organized in collaboration with District Red Cross Society Budgam and Chief Medical Office Budgam.

Scores of donors volunteered to donate the blood during the camp, while students of different schools of the district participated in the function and were given awareness regarding the importance of blood donation and use of first aid to victims of accidents or any other calamity.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Akshay Labroo while highlighting the significance of the day said that, not only blood donation camps are held on this day but also awareness and training about use of first aid on accident victims is given to participants to save human life.

He urged participants to make best use of the training to become smart citizens and extend timely fist aid help to injured to safeguard the human lives.

He said that under the Red Cross Fund, the District Administration is committed to assist the maximum number of needy to make their lives better.

The DC appealed people to volunteer themselves to contribute to the Red Cross Fund to cherish the real spirit of Red Cross Day to serve humanity particularly downtrodden and other weaker sections of the society without any barriers of caste, creed or religion.

Additional District Development Commissioner Budgam, Dr Akramullah Tak and Chief Medical Officer Budgam Dr Ayyub Fateh also spoke on the occasion.

It was informed that a list of donors has been maintained to ensure immediate help to the needy at any hospital across the district.

DDC Members, ADC Budgam, Tehsildar Headquarter, Chief Agriculture Officer and others were also present on the occasion.
