Intl. Year of Cooperatives-2025: Cooperative deptt organises awareness camp

SHOPIAN : In continuation with the celebration of International Year of Cooperatives 2025, a day-long awareness cum workshop was organized by Cooperative department Shopian to highlight objectives and schemes of the department.
Deputy Registrar Cooperative Shopian, Assistant Registrar and other speakers briefed the participants about schemes and motivated new members to join the cooperative sector and register for various services being offered by the government.
Deputy Registrar highlighted the significance of cooperative societies in strengthening rural economies and promoting inclusive growth. He emphasized that cooperatives have played a vital role in improving the socio-economic conditions of farmers and orchardists by facilitating access to resources, markets and modern technology.
He encouraged farmers and orchardists to adopt modern mechanised tools and make use of Government schemes and cooperative models to increase productivity and income.
In this context, the department explained the role of Cooperatives in establishing grading lines for apple processing. This will lead to higher marketability of apples and reduction in input costs thus directly leading to doubling of farmers income which is in line with the vision of the cooperative sector.
The officers/ officials of the Cooperative department besides farmers/orchardists were present on the occasion.
