Kupwara : The Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) Kupwara, led by District President Sahil Bashir, has raised serious concerns over the prolonged vacancy of the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) post in Sogam since January 1, 2025.
The absence of a ZEO, coupled with the lack of Drawing and Disbursing Officer (DDO) powers for any officer, has left hundreds of teachers unpaid for the last two months.
The Forum revealed that salaries for December 2024 remain unpaid, causing significant financial and social hardships for teachers while disrupting administrative operations in the education zone.
JKTF Kupwara has appealed to its leadership, including Chairman Mohammad Shafi Rather and senior leaders Muneer Ahmad Khan, Bhat Javid, M. Akber Dar, and Bashir Ahmad Thoker, to escalate efforts to resolve this crisis. They have called on the government to immediately appoint a ZEO and grant DDO powers to an officer to address the issue.
The Forum emphasized that administrative failures must not be allowed to jeopardize the livelihood of teachers or hinder the education system’s smooth functioning in Zone Sogam. It urged authorities to prioritize this matter to alleviate the challenges faced by the teaching fraternity.
