Kupwara: Kamraj Forest Division organized a one-day workshop on Continuous Forest Inventory (CFI) as part of its ongoing efforts to prepare a comprehensive Working Plan after a gap of 45 years. The workshop, held under the guidance of the Working Plan Officer, marks a significant milestone as this is the first time the Working Plan is being drafted under the newly introduced Working Plan Code.
The Working Plan, once finalized, will govern the functioning, management, and conservation strategies of the division for the next decade. At the core of this planning process lies the CFI data, which provides critical insights into forest composition, health, and changes over time.
Speaking on the occasion, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Kamraj, Anurag Arya, IFS, stated, “We are committed to ensuring that the Working Plan reflects the ecological realities and management needs of today. By leveraging Continuous Forest Inventory, we are ensuring that our planning is rooted in robust, scientific data.”
The division is fast-tracking the entire process, with an ambitious target of preparing the Preliminary Working Plan Report by October this year.
This initiative not only aligns with modern forestry practices but also ensures sustainable forest management in accordance with national standards.
