Srinagar : Kamran Mohammad Shamas, competing in the 90+ weight category of Sanda Wushu, made history by winning a gold medal at the 33rd Senior National Wushu Championship held from September 21 to 26 at Shri Maharana Pratap Stadium in Raipur, Dehradun. Representing Jammu and Kashmir, Kamran showcased his exceptional skill by winning five matches, four of which ended in knockouts.
His journey to gold began with a tough match against All India Police’s Chintu Nagar, followed by victories over opponents from Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and finally Delhi’s Himanshu. This remarkable achievement marks the first time a Kashmiri athlete has claimed gold in the Senior National Wushu Championship, highlighting Kamran’s dedication and talent on a national stage.
