Kashmir Writers Association Presents ‘The Kashmiriyat’ to Deputy Commissioner Kupwara

Srinagar : In a recent meeting, Mr. Fida Firdous, President of the Kashmir Writers Association (KWA), met with the Deputy Commissioner of Kupwara, Miss. Ayushi Sudan, to present the second issue of The North Kashmir Gazette, titled “The Kashmiriyat.” During the interaction, Mr. Fida Firdous highlighted the significant contributions of the KWA towards society, particularly its efforts in promoting border tourism and showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Kashmir through its various publications and initiatives.

The Deputy Commissioner, Miss. Ayushi Sudan, appreciated the work of the Kashmir Writers Association, acknowledging the organization’s role in fostering social change and promoting tourism through its well-researched magazine, The Offbeat Tourist Destination. She expressed her admiration for the efforts of KWA in presenting a unique and authentic narrative of Kashmir’s tourism potential, especially in areas often overlooked by mainstream tourism.
The Kashmir Writers Association, established in 2022 as a registered trust, is a collective of writers, poets, authors, literary enthusiasts, and social media influencers from across the Kashmir Valley. Its mission is to preserve and promote the literary and cultural heritage of Kashmir, while providing a platform for budding writers and artists to express themselves and contribute to the region’s literary landscape.

Over the past two years, KWA has been at the forefront of numerous initiatives aimed at promoting Kashmir’s rich literary traditions, border tourism, and cultural coexistence. The association’s work has resonated deeply with individuals and communities throughout the valley, with a focus on empowering people through positive change and sustainable development. KWA remains committed to countering negative narratives and providing an authentic voice for the people of Kashmir.

Currently, KWA boasts over 470 members and volunteers, each contributing their talents to a variety of tasks across the region. The association has established units in every district of the valley, organizing events, seminars, and conferences that highlight the diverse culture and talent of Kashmir. The slogan “More Power to the Pen” reflects the association’s belief in the power of writing and creativity to bring about social change and counter misinformation.
Through its unwavering commitment to literature, culture, and social progress, the Kashmir Writers Association continues to make a positive impact in the valley, serving as a platform for emerging voices and fostering a brighter future for the people of Kashmir.
