Kupwara: Assembly Constituency-4 Lolab Marks National Voters Day

Kupwara : In a bid to encourage and empower new voters to cast their votes and contribute in nation building, ERO-4 Lolab on Thursday marked the 14th National Voters’ Day.

The function held at Govt Degree College Sogam was attended by Sub-divisional Magistrate Lolab (ERO)Aijaz Ahmad Bhat and Principal GDC Sogam.

The event saw enthusiastic attendance from BLOs of assembly constituency Lolab who collectively came forward to emphasize the importance of democracy.

SDM Lolab Aijaz Ahmad Bhat while addressing on the occasion stated that, “Democracy is our pride, and we should actively engage in the electoral process.”

Speaking on the occasion, Bhat shed light on the importance of celebrating the National Voters Day saying “the right to vote empowers citizens to exercise his/her franchise for nation building and for making the democracy strong.”

He said that, “this day provides us an opportunity to reach out to the new voters for enrollment in electoral rolls, so that they are able to take part in the Democratic process”, adding, “Every single vote is important for the government making and hence has profound significance.”

Principal GDC Sogam and incharge Election cell 4-Lolab Wasim Tullah Daralso addressed a large gathering and highlighted the various aspects of National Voters Day.

During the proceedings, various BLOs were felicitated for showcasing their intrest in enrolling new voters in the voter list and directed the others who have attained the age of 18+ should get enrolled in the voter list.

SDM Lolab, who is thoroughly supervising the entire enrollment drive, was also acknowledged for his remarkable workout in enrolling the new voters in the list.

The SDM on the occasion urged the non-voters to recognise the significance of their participation in shaping a democratic nation. “Every single vote has value and profound significance in democracy to ensure an inclusive electoral process”, Bhat remarked.
