Kupwara : In a continued effort to curb the menace of drug trafficking in the district, Kupwara Police achieved a significant success today by apprehending a drug peddler along with a consignment of contraband substance.
A police party from Police Post Bazar had established a naka at Geerhatchi, as part of routine surveillance.During the course of checking, a suspicious individual approaching from Lolab towards Kupwara attempted to evade the naka on noticing the police presence. However, the alert and vigilant naka party acted swiftly and tactfully intercepted the suspect before he could escape.
Upon preliminary questioning, the individual identified himself as Parvaiz Ahmad Reshi, son of Abdul Ahad Reshi, resident of Kupwara. A personal search led to the recovery of a charas-like substance from his possession.
In this regard, a case FIR No. 185/2025 under section 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kupwara, and investigation has been taken up to unearth further links, if any.
