Kupwara Police Arrests Drug Peddler, Narcotics Seized

KUPWARA: Continuing with its resolve and unrelenting efforts against drug trafficking, Kupwara Police apprehended a drug peddler and seized a consignment of narcotics during a naka checking at Shartpora Hayhama Kupwara.

On 29/03/25 during patrolling/naka checking at Shartpora Hayhama, one suspicious person coming from Chalgund towards Sharatpora Kupwara on seeing the police party tried to flee away from spot who was apprehended tactfully by Police party. During questioning, the said person disclosed his name as Javid Ahmad Khan @Sharukh S/O Bahadur Khan R/O Haihama Kupwara. During search Charas like substance weighing about 33.4 grams and 5.4 grams of Heroin like Substance was recovered from his possession. The said person was carrying this contraband Charas and Heroin like substance to indulge the youth of Hyhama area in drugs etc.

Accordingly, a case (FIR No. 87/2025) under relevant Sections of law stands registered at Police Station Kupwara, and further investigation is underway.
