Kupwara : As a part of Public outreach programme, Thana Diwas was held at Police Station Karnah, Police Post Teetwal, and Police Post Machil, providing a vital platform for residents to engage directly with police and voice their concerns. The event was led by Addl SP Kupwara, Gh Mohd Bhat, JKPS, accompanied by SHO Karnah at PS Karnah and PP Teetwal, while DySP PC Lolab, Raies Ahmad, JKPS, facilitated the session at PP Machil.
In Karnah and Teetwal, community members, including local imams, traders, Numberdars, senior citizens, and youth representatives, discussed key issues. Topics included expanding youth engagement in sports, intensifying the fight against the drug menace, ensuring stable winter electricity supply, establishing a drug de-addiction center in Tangdhar, and taking firm action against terror associates. ASP Kupwara assured attendees that police-related matters would be addressed immediately, while other issues would be forwarded to the relevant departments for action.
At Police Post Machil, residents highlighted additional needs, including upgrading the Primary Health Centre, deploying snow-cutting machinery for winter road access, reducing electricity fees due to limited power usage, and pre-stocking essential commodities for winter. Further requests included the initiation of a mini-bus service, enhanced mobile network coverage, and an increase in monthly rice distribution per person.
DySP PC Lolab listened attentively, assuring residents that policing concerns would be prioritized, and other issues would be raised with the appropriate authorities for timely resolution.
The successful conduct of Thana Diwas underscores the police department’s commitment to welfare of people and effective response to public grievances, reinforcing trust and cooperation between the police and the public.
