Kupwara, Apr 15: Traders, students, locals, and shopkeepers in Kupwara are protesting the district administration’s failure to offer better road connectivity to residents in the area.
According to locals, the Kupwara-Regipora road has been in disrepair for the past five years, and no one is paying attention to it, despite the fact that the district’s top authorities use this road on a regular basis.
According to the aggrieved people, this route links to Kupwara Degree College and several other significant locations, as well as connects twin areas with the district government.
A local shopkeeper, who did not want to be identified, informed Global Kashmir that this is the status of a road that is only a kilometre from the District Development Commissioner’s office, and he went on to say that this is the situation of other roads in the town.
While shopkeepers and drivers in this area expressed their dissatisfaction, they stated that our district administration claims to be delivering basic services to this border district, but that these assertions are just based on documents.
The shopkeepers in this town claim that they have repeatedly contacted the concerned authorities but that their requests have gone unheeded.
On Friday, the Regipora stage traders, PRIs, and transporters organised a peaceful demonstration requesting greater road connectivity.
